Jiwoo (Jamie) Soh (b. 2005) is a photographer and multidisciplinary visual artist based in Seoul, South Korea, and New York, United States. With a foundation in photography, Soh’s practice extends to drawing, print media, graphic design, painting, video, installation, and sculpture. Her work explores themes of body, identity, emotions, and oddness, often capturing the human form—both her own and others’—in varied settings that emphasize expressions, textures, movements, and the interplay of colors and lighting. Through these elements, Soh seeks to challenge societal perceptions of the body and identity while evoking emotional resonance.​

 

A 2024 graduate of Walnut Hill School for the Arts, where she majored in Writing, Film, and Media Arts, Soh developed an interdisciplinary approach to storytelling and visual expression. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at Cornell University (Class of 2028), where she continues to expand her artistic practice.

 

Soh is the creator of two self-published mixed-media magazines, Serendipity: Volume 1 and Serendipity: A Teenage Antidote. While Serendipity: Volume 1 served as an initial exploration of artistic storytelling, Serendipity: A Teenage Antidote delves into teenage angst and the complex emotional landscape of adolescence through an artistic lens. Demonstrating her commitment to using art as a medium for social impact, Soh donated the $1,500 profit from the magazine to Horizons for Homeless Children, a Massachusetts-based organization. This act highlights her dedication to themes of empathy, identity, and emotional expression, which are central to her work.

 

Soh’s artistic achievements include several notable honors on an international level. In 2023, she earned two 4th places and a 5th place in the American Arts Awards for photography, showcasing her talent for striking visual storytelling. That same year, she received 3rd place in the International Photography Awards (non-professional) in the Book/Fine Arts category and an Honorable Mention, further demonstrating her versatility across photographic genres.
